From safety issues to retaliatory tactics against their own employees, our nation's largest chain pharmacies are steadily dropping in reputation, putting their pharmacists and pharmacy staff in the increasingly precarious position of good people trapped in an awful situation.
Listen in as PUTTcast host Monique Whitney speaks with Anais Webster Mennuti and Kim Kessler from the independent documentary that's blowing the lid off America's pharmacy problems: "Would You Like Shots with That?". It's an ear-opening discussion that brings atrocities out in the open, humanizes what really goes on behind chain pharmacy counters, and makes the case for why you should care - because at the end of the day, we are all patients.

I had so much fun recording this episode with my colleague, coach, mentor, and friend Dr. Christina Fontana. We had recorded another episode a while back when she was using her maiden last name, Tarantola. From questioning our beliefs, to being raw and vulnerable, to demonstrating how to move and shake up your energetic blocks with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) & tapping - we go really deep into busting some myths and narratives that we tell ourselves on the daily. One key takeaway here is to follow your desire and lead with your heart, even if that means taking the road less traveled! But you don’t need to go at it alone, it’s allowed to be easy! So give yourself permission and get help from coaches like Christina. Dr. Christina Fontana, PharmD, CHC, CHt, AKA The Pharmacist Coach®️, is a rapid transformation coach, hypnotherapist, pharmacist, and 5-time author. Her most recent book “Moving Beyond the Counter” is a collaboration that showcased the stories of 20 pharmacists, including myself, and I am so grateful to Christina for bringing us together in this way and forming this brilliant community that is giving permission for others to shine. We are also having a book signing next week on November 12 in Mars, PA, and I personally can’t wait! Dr. Christina helps pharmacist entrepreneurs release subconscious blocks so you can own your brilliance and scale their profitable healing businesses. She blends hypnotherapy, science-based transformation, and intuitive coaching to help you simplify and scale your heart-centered business with more ease and flow. For the last 10 years, Dr. Christina has been providing uplifting, transformational content through her YouTube videos, books, courses, programs, and retreats to help women reconnect to their inner light to go from burnt out pharmacist to lit up full-time entrepreneurs! I cannot say enough in this brief intro about how grateful I am for my personal and professional relationship that we have developed together over the years with Dr. Christina, so without further ado I’ll let this episode do the talking. Feel free to connect with Dr. Christina on her website or on her pharmacist Facebook page, Monetize Your Magic – A Community for Empath Entrepreneurs: www.pharmacistcoach.com Monetize Your Magic Facebook group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/244625093553163 Grab your free Wealth Expansion Bundle to help you scale your healing business here - https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/JnAxVdO/elevate Instagram - @thepharmacistcoach https://www.instagram.com/thepharmacistcoach/

Good News, You Can Have A Profitable Front End | Pharmacy Crossroads
Sunday Dec 04, 2022
Sunday Dec 04, 2022
One proven way for pharmacy owners to boost sales, improve profits and generate word of mouth recommendations is by operating an attractive and well merchandized front-end. But finding products that people want at prices that allow you to sell them profitably has been a major problem up until now. I say “has been” because now MatchSquare has combined the resources of an experienced independent pharmacy front end buyer with the technology and buying power of a company necessary to solve this age old problem.
In this episode Bruce Kneeland talks with Johny Kello, CEO of MatchSquare and co-founder of MatchRx and Renee Zawaideh, front-end manager of a six store chain and Lead Merchandizer of MatchSquare. These two experienced managers tell how MatchRx, with 7,000 independent pharmacy customers has built a brand new company that will make, in an organized and curated manner, tens of thousands of front-end items that can be bought in appropriate quantities and attractive prices sold in an independent pharmacy.
Here's hoping you’ll learn something that will help you do more and be better.

LIVE DEMO: Babson Diagnostics Blood Testing Ecosystem
Friday Dec 02, 2022

Community pharmacists are often overlooked for the vital roles they play in our health care system. But in the public health emergency of the last 2 years, community pharmacies have come out of the shadows to lead the fight against COVID-19. Community pharmacies became coronavirus test sites early in the pandemic, at a time when the country was short on testing and there were long lines at drive-through testing sites. Later, they led the campaign to protect Americans by inoculating millions. Pharmacies are ready to play bigger roles in our healthcare system and it starts with blood testing.
Assess overall patient wellness
Identify at-risk individuals and influence preventive lifestyle changes
Detect chronic disease and pre-existing conditions

Today I have a returning guest on the show, Dr. Frieda Wiley, who was on Episode 15 of Season 4. (Listen here: https://www.drmarinabuksov.com/s04e15-writing-your-own-path-w-dr-frieda-wiley/) We talk about the impact of working from home, and what it means for our overall well being, productivity, and social norms - both pre- and post-pandemic. Frieda Wiley, PharmD, suffered some hard knocks working from home, so she’s written a book to guide how to handle this emerging trend and paradigm - from personal experience. The COVID-19 pandemic has forever changed the world in many ways—and some for the better. For one thing, it created a safe space for people to finally have some very candid conversations about mental health. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Wiley found herself struggling with mental and physical health while working remotely, and it took her months to discover solutions and recuperate. In her book, “Telecommuting Psychosis: From surviving to thriving while working in your pajama pants,” Dr. Wiley shares her fool-proof tips on how to manage your time, be more productive, set healthy professional boundaries, and protect (and possibly improve) your physical and emotional health. She also shares the research to support it. Whether you’re a single Generation X-er or a busy parent managing a household, this book offers solutions for everyone to thrive in a remote environment. Dr. Frieda Wiley is a licensed pharmacist-turned-freelance medical writer and medical journalist who has written for O, The Oprah Magazine, US News & World Report, Merck, and the National Institutes of Health. She was recently based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Learn more about the book and preorder here: https://friedawiley.com/books/ (Coming soon to Amazon!)

Important Considerations for End of Year Tax Planning
Section 179 and More
Now is the time of year when people start thinking about how to wrap up their tax year in the best way possible. End of year tax planning is key to this process.
Section 179 is especially appealing because small businesses have the ability to deduct the full purchase price of equipment or software the year the equipment is purchased and deduct the full purchase price from their taxable earnings and before paying off the loan. Having the equipment immediately means they can start earning a profit and keep their working capital healthy if purchased with a loan or on a lease.
Before we delve deeper into some of the specifics around Section 179, let’s talk to a pharmacy owner who has used these benefits to significantly grow his pharmacy business.
